I want to outline a few plans and goals I have for this blog, what I hope to achieve. Maybe at the end of this year (or sometime) I’ll be able to look back at this post and say “Hey, I did all that”. Though most of these aren’t really measurable…
Two of my main goals are: I want to become a more critical and articulate reviewer and also be more active on the internet instead of just consuming content. I’ve never really reviewed books, except for one I posted on my goodreads profile last year. I tend to just gush about how much I love a book, or rant about how much I hate it, but I struggle a little with going more into detail about why.
I also don’t really have anyone in my real life to talk to about the books I read, partially because I read almost exclusively in English but live in Germany, partially because I read mostly fantasy, partially because I just don’t know anyone who loves reading the way I do. So doing this will give me an outlet for all my thoughts and feelings about what I read. This is probably the most important reason. I just want to talk about books!
Additionally, I want to practice my writing in both German and English and translating in both directions. I plan to write mostly in English and translate into German, unless I’m talking about a German book, in which case I’ll do the opposite. I have some specific ideas about posts I want to make, and a few reading goals that I hope this blog will help me achieve. More on those in a different post! Eventually, I want to use only photos I’ve taken myself instead of stock photos to practice a hobby I’ve neglected for a few years.
Just to have some numbers that I can actually try to hit, I do want to upload at least 52 posts this year and have at least 20 of these be in-depth reviews.

Ziele
Ich möchte ein paar Pläne und Ziele vorstellen, die ich für diesen Blog habe, was ich erreichen möchte. Vielleicht kann ich am Ende dieses Jahres (oder wann auch immer) diesen Post nochmal anschauen und sagen „Hey, das hab ich alles gemacht!“. Auch wenn viele dieser Pläne nicht wirklich messbar sind…
Zwei meiner Hauptziele sind: Ich möchte kritischer und deutlicher rezensieren können, und aktiv am Leben online teilhaben, anstatt alles nur zu konsumieren. Ich habe noch nie wirklich öffentlich Bücher rezensiert, bis auf eine Rezension, die ich letztes Jahr auf Goodreads geschrieben habe. Entweder sprudele ich vor Begeisterung, oder ich schimpfe darüber, wie sehr mich etwas gestört hat, aber es fällt mir schwer, genauer zu sagen warum.
Außerdem habe ich in meinem realen Leben niemanden mit dem ich über die Bücher, die ich lese, reden kann; teilweise, weil ich hauptsächlich auf Englisch lese, obwohl ich in Deutschland lebe, teilweise, weil ich hauptsächlich Fantasy lese, teilweise, weil ich einfach niemanden kenne, der so gerne liest wie ich. Also wird mir dieser Blog ein Outlet für alle meine Gedanken und Gefühle über das, was ich lese, geben. Das ist wahrscheinlich der wichtigste Grund. Ich möchte einfach über Bücher reden!
Dazu kommt noch, dass ich mein Schreiben auf Englisch und Deutsch üben möchte, wie auch das Übersetzen in beide Richtungen. Ich habe vor meistens auf Englisch zu schreiben und ins Deutsche zu übersetzen, außer wenn ich über deutsche Bücher schreibe, dann werde ich es andersherum machen. Ich habe auch tatsächlich ein paar spezifische Ideen für Posts und ein paar Leseziele, die ein Blog hoffentlich einfacher machen wird. Aber mehr dazu später! Irgendwann möchte ich nur noch Fotos benutzen, die ich selber gemacht habe, anstatt von Stockfotos, um wieder ein Hobby zu praktizieren, das ich ein paar Jahre vernachlässigt habe.
Damit ich auch ein paar Zahlen habe, die ich versuchen kann zu erreichen, möchte ich dieses Jahr 52 Posts hochladen und mindestens 20 davon sollen detaillierte Rezensionen sein.
